Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: This paper from AGE Platform Europe (AGE) presents the state-of-play of a reflection we have engaged with our members and external experts on how the COVID-19 pandemic and measures taken by governments affect the human rights of older persons. It highlights key issues faced in particular by older persons, in terms of access to health and social care, discrimination and social exclusion. Our reflection addresses the specific challenges faced by older people in residential settings, those who live alone and older persons who receive care at home. As the situation evolves rapidly and responses in different countries and local contexts vary, our paper must be seen as a living document, rather than a definite assessment of how the current circumstances influence the human rights of older persons. AGE intends to regularly update this document based on information gathered from our members across the EU and official sources.
